Three Frenchmen charged in alleged plot to attack military base
The men, aged 17 to 23, were handed preliminary charges of criminal terrorist association
Paris: A French investigating judge has filed terrorism charges against three young Frenchmen for allegedly plotting an attack on a military base in southern France.
The prosecutor's office said Saturday that the men, aged 17 to 23, were handed preliminary charges of criminal terrorist association. Prosecutors say the men, who were arrested Monday, admitted under questioning that they plotted to attack the Mediterranean military base Fort Bear on orders from an Islamic State group contact in Syria.
The prosecutor's office said Friday two of the men had said the plot including beheading a ranking official. The eldest, a former Marine who once served at the post, denied that a beheading was part of the plan.
