Xiaomi makes the shoe smart too

Xiaomi has partnered with Chinese shoe manufacturer Li-Ning for the smart shoes

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, seems to wanting to make everything smart and interconnect smart devices to form an electronic ecosystem. This month, Xiaomi announced the smart TV and a smart water purifier, which can be controlled from your smartphone. Earlier, they also announced a smart shoe and have partnered with Chinese shoe manufacturer Li-Ning.

The Li-Ning Smart Shoes will incorporate a military-grade sensor, similar to the one inside the Mi Band, to track the fitness levels of the user. The sensor will collect data using motion sensors and transmit the same back to the smartphone using Bluetooth. The shoes are water and sweat-proof and look like any conventional shoe. The company claims that the sensors inside shoes can last you for more a year as they are built with a robust build to withstand pressure.

The sensors inside the shoes can record steps, calories burned and other fitness details. The sensor is fitted under the sole, somehere in the center of the shoe. The shoes will be available in two variants, the cheapest being 199 Yuan (approx Rs 2,100) and the other one around 399 Yuan (approx Rs 4,100). The shoes will go on sale by end of July 2015. There is no information if the product will be sold outside China.
