Telecom operators refuse call details to Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada: After hearing both mobile service providers and the advocate general from SIT, the Vijayawada Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court postponed the hearing to July 24, after mobile service providers were reluctant to provide call data.
The network providers, who agreed to provide the data a week ago were reluctant and said there is no chance of giving the data to AP CID officials, and added that Telangana and Central government has also ordered them not to provide any information to SIT officials.
Speaking on the judgement, Mr Venugopala Rao, advocate general from SIT, alleged that the service providers made a U-turn on what they said a week earlier to the court on providing call data and also said that AP CID officials requested the court to provide the information from the operators to find a clue on the phone tapping.
And further actions will be taken under sections IPC 174 and CrPc 340, if they still show unwillingness. “The providers are reluctant to share the information with AP CID officials, though the court ordered providing all the data to us. Action will be taken under Sections IPC 174 and CrPc 340. We again requested the court on the same and are waiting for the next hearings on July 24,” Mr Venugopal said.
However, the providers, who accepted to provide call data were reluctant to give it, saying that the Telangana government issued a memo not to provide the information to AP CID. The Centre made the same order. They also said they are ready to go to High Court on the issue.
