Naga sadhus wear clothes, honour pilgrims’ requests

Some pilgrims tried to give them white lungies, but they threw them away with anger
Narasapuram: The Naga sadhus or the aghoras have honored the request of pilgrims and covered their private parts with clothes. As many as six Naga sadhus attended the 12 day Pushkaralu in Narsapuram in West Godavari district. They are taking holy dip in the Lalitha Ghat naked causing some inconvenience to the women pilgr-ims at bathing ghats.
As the pilgrims broug-ht it to the notice of the district authorities, the revenue authorities requested them to cover themselves with clothes.
“The Naga sadhus ho-noured our request and wore a piece of cloth to cover their private parts,” said the joint collector, Md. Shariff.
Some pilgrims tried to give them white lungies, but they threw them away with anger. As many as six Naga sadhus and seven seers attended Pushkaralu at Narsapuram on the request of the youth in the town.
Narasapuram MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu helped the youth to take them to the town during Pushkaralu.
According to the instructions of Mahant Sri Narendra Giri Akhil Bharatiya Akhanda Parishad of Allahabad, the Naga sadhus participated in Pushkaralu.
They come to bathing ghats early in the morning to take holy dip. They wear ‘vibhuthi’ all over the body and hold Trisula in their hands. The pilgrims are offering prayers to them seeking blessings.
After participating in Godavari Harathi, they are moving across the river in boats covering six ghats to give darshan to the pilgrims.
"We are very happy to participate in Godavari pushkaralu. We will bless the people, said Vithal Bharathi and Asarapathi Dayanandagiri Mahat. Vithal Bharathi studied Class III and he was inspired from his Guru Narendragiri's spiritual messages and decided to take the path of renunciation.
Mahavirgiri of Haryana who studied plus two education, Somanath Sugreevanand of Nasik also take the Nagasadhu Sweekar.
Nagasadhus are a particular group of Shaivite saints who stay in Nasik, Himalayas and Allahabad.
"There are two kinds of Aghoras. Aghoras of one kind mostly reside in Himalayas and other mountain ranges. We are Nagasadhuscum-Aghoras," they said. The saint Mahanth Viswanath Bharathi who wears Kashaya (saffron) clothes said that they don't want any one from the world except Lord Shiva's blessings.
City Devotional Committee organisers B. Ramesh and Mukhesh Kumar Jain requested the state government to sanction funds for Naga sadhus on the lines of Maharashtra and Telangana.
