Ticket to luxury!

Some of the costliest tickets ever sold from around the world

New York to Hong Kong round flight Lufthansa / Etihad’s The Residence class from Abu Dhabi to Sydney: When the uber rich take to the roads, they make sure they turn as many heads as possible. But when they can drive in style, why not fly in style as well? And if there is ever a heaven above our heads, then these flights would come an awful lot close to the luxury paradise can boast of. A one-way flight from Abu Dhabi to Sydney on the Etihad’s The Residence class costs about $21,000. While it comes with a seat much like any other air ticket, what it also gets you along with the seat is a three-room suite with a private butler and a bed. Also attached is a private shower and toilet so you wouldn’t have to wait when nature calls.

Coming close to The Residence is the roundtrip flight between Hong Kong and New York in Lufthansa. Filled with bespoke complements and toiletry and a Michelin star chef platter, the German Airline’s flight service and luxury is considered legendary. Complete with a stand alone seat and a bed along with in-flight personal assistants, the ticket could cost an upwards of $43,000 for a round trip.

Golf (The Masters): Golf is considered one of the most expensive sports in the world. And when everything about the sport right from the prize money is expensive, why not the tickets? A four-day pass to this golfing extravaganza can cost upto $4,000 or more. And what makes Golf tickets such a big deal is that there is no ring or a railing separating you from a legendary great like Tiger Woods and you will be sharing the same grassy ground as these legends. So in hindsight, while a $4,000 ticket may seem expensive, the same amount for rubbing shoulders and hobnobbing with greats definitely doesn’t sound half bad.

Ultimate Festival Pass for Iceland’s Secret Solstice Music Festival: Pegged at $200,000, this festival pass can only be described as a millionaire’s dream holiday package of Iceland, which coincides with the Secret Solstice festival. A 100-feet Yacht cruise, five room luxury villa, first class return tickets and a private concert from one of the headlining acts are some of the things that this ticket can get you.

While that’s not convincing enough for many to shell out $200,000, the speciality of this pass is in the details. Good music can often be a lifetime experience, but how about listening to great music without the hustle and bustle of crowds and that too sitting inside a glacier? What it can also get you is a star chef platter that you can gorge away while comfily seated within a chamber that’s built inside the magma layer of a dormant volcano!

‘The fight of the century’ - Many around the world were forced to pay a whopping $100 just to see Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather tussle on TV for a few rounds in what was touted as the biggest sporting extravaganza ever. But while a $100 might seem far-fetched to pay for a TV view, the costliest ringside seat for the fight cost an unbelievable $70,000. The fight may have ended with far less excitement than what was promised, but the ticket price for ringside seats now reign among some of the costliest in the entire history of sports in the world.

Superbowl XLVII: While the average ticket prices were in the range of a few hundred dollars, third party tickets for this notoriously high-demand sporting event were said to reach about $316,000. When you are rich enough to foot a bill like that, why would you ever take the trouble of booking a ticket months or even weeks ahead of the event like most common folk do. Historically one of the most viewed sporting events on TV, watching a Superbowl match-up live is not a feasible affair without pockets that run as deep as the Mariana’s Trench.
