Telangana eamcet web counselling from today

More than 1L seats are expected to be available for students

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari announced on Thursday evening that web counselling for the Telangana State Eamcet will begin from 5 pm on Friday.

Two phases of web counselling are scheduled to be held with classes beginning from August 1, as per Supreme Court guidelines.

More than 1.2 lakh seats are expected to be available for students. Re-inspections will be held in engineering colleges which desire so, as per Wednesday’s High Court orders.

Nearly 73 private engineering colleges of the 121 which had approached the court have withdrawn all or some of their courses from the re-inspections. Such courses will not be available for counselling.

“Any other engineering college which did not approach the HC but wants any of its courses to be re-inspected can approach the JNTU-H before Thursday night and they will also be re-inspected, but subject to a final outcome,” Mr Srihari said.

He explained, “Courses in engineering colleges that are ready for inspections will be included in the counselling but students will be informed about the riders.”

Such colleges will be granted temporary affiliation but the same will be revoked if they are rejected in the AICTE-JNTU re-inspections.

“There are three categories of seats in the counselling from today. Those which are already affiliated and are without any riders; those which had approached the court and wanted re-inspections – they will get temporary affiliation; and those which were rejected affiliation by the varsity and didn’t approach the court but now want to be re-inspected. The last two categories are with riders,” Mr Srihari said.

Such courses and seats will be colour coded for students to clearly differentiate between them and the regular courses.

Currently, 82,795 seats have got affiliation from JNTU-H in about 220 engineering colleges. Adding seats which are to be re-inspected, the number is likely to rise to 1.2 lakhs.

This includes the 9,838 seats affiliated to Osmania, Kakatiya and MG Universities.

About 66,000 students had taken part in certificate verification and fewer than that are expected to take part in the Web counselling.
