SSLC: Action against all levels of staff

The software was used for examination- related activities without proper trial run

Thiruvananthapuram: The four-member probe committee headed by general education secretary V.S. Senthil has found serious flaws at all levels in the valuation of SSLC answer sheets and the publication of results.

It recommended action against data entry operators of the Pareeksha Bhavan and the teachers from the valuation centre who failed to upload the correct details.

The report submitted to Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rabb on Thursday pointed out serious defects in the software developed by the National Informatics Centre.

The software was used for examination- related activities without proper trial run.

There was also no planning before replacing the software used till last year with a new software.

A system analyst with no previous experience had compiled and published the SSLC results this year.

The analyst was appointed on deputation at the Pareeksha Bhavan only weeks before the jobs relating to the SSLC examinations had began, the report pointed out.

The teachers from the valuation camp had made serious mistakes while uploading the results. Many teachers had entered wrong marks.

The data entry operators at the Pareeksha Bhavan, who had to cross-check the marks and correct them, also made serious errors.

The committee was appointed on the basis of the preliminary report submitted by the then DPI K. Gopalakrishna Bhat.

Apart from the general education secretary, the other members are state IT Mission director K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla, Pareeksha Bhavan secretary Johns V. Johns and Kerala University Computational Biology and Bioinformatics head Achuthsankar S. Nair.
