Son hires gangsters to break father’s limbs
KOCHI: The police has arrested Dalson Vargheese, 28, for engaging a ‘quotation gang’ to break the limbs of his father Kappativeetil Vargheese, 62, running VK Agencies, an export agency near the Info-park in Kakkanad on Thursday.
Three members of a Changanasserry-based gang were also arrested along with Dalson in connection with the case. The arrested have been identified as Mannar Sudheesh-kumar, 38, Mannar Sivajith, 28, and Mammoty alias Ratheesh, 31, a native of Harippad.
The gangsters broke the left hand and the right leg of Vargheese as directed by his son Dalson.
The assault took place three days ago when a group of assail-ants stormed into the office of Vargheese and held the staff members hostage before attacking Vargheese.
The assailants also stole a gold chain, ring and Rs 60,000 before leaving the place. Vargheese, admitted into a private hospital, is recuperating.
According to the police Dalson had given a ‘quotation’ to break the limbs of his father on the suspicion that he was having an illicit affair with a woman staff member of the office.
The accused tried to mislead the police by claiming that the attack was carried out on the direction of the son of Varghees’s brother.
The gangsters had also said the same during the time of the assault. In the complaint filed by Vargheese, he also blamed his brother’s son for the assault.
The police however cracked the case after observing Dalson’s suspicious movement and also going through his call details.
The police presented the four accused at a local court and the court remanded them into judicial custody.
The police is also searching another member of the quotation gang named Ajayan in connection with the case.
Dalson is the brother of Vinesh Vargheese, the accused in the case against assaulting city traffic warden Padmini in 2013.
