Rescue home not the right place for Prathyusha
Hyderabad: The state-run rescue home is not the right place for Prathyusha, said Mr Achyuta Rao, member of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights , who was part of the team that rescued her.
“The home houses destitute women who come to seek shelter while seeking justice, victims of rape, domestic violence and trafficking,” said Mr Rao.
Dr A. Rajesh, the psychiatrist treating Pratyusha, said she was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and would need “at least two to three years of care and close supervision from kindhearted people.”
"There is no support system at the state rescue home and there are no trained professionals to handle the case. As she wants to study, we are coordinating with RR collector to facilitate the same,” Mr Rao said.
"Our project director and team have spoken to the girl. She wants to learn nursing. We will speak to nursing colleges once she recoups,” said director of women and child welfare department, Viziendira Boyi.
Dr Rajesh added, "There are many people and organisations approaching the hospital showing an interest in taking care of Prathyusha. However, it is up to the government to decide where she will be sent."
