Centre’s indifference towards Telangana upsets K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is said to be terribly upset with the Centre for its indifference towards Telangana on the High Court bifurcation and other issues.
Mr Rao, who held a meeting with party MPs after they submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking immediate bifurcation of the High Court, reportedly expressed dismay over the Centre’s attitude towards Telangana on many issues, though the TRS was backing it despite not being part of the NDA.
Sources said the CM discussed the High Court bifurcation and other issues with MPs and asked them to stall the monsoon session of Parliament beginning July 21 till the Centre initiate steps for setting up a High Court for Telangana.
“Though we are not in the NDA, the TRS government supported its programmes and policies and Bills in Parliament over one year, but there is no similar gesture from the the Centre,” Mr Rao reportedly told the MPs.
The TRS government is also upset over the Centre granting Rs 50 crore for the Godavari Pushkaralu to Telangana and double that to AP, lack of action on the Bayyaram steel plant front, seizure of Rs 1,200 crore of the AP Beverages Corporation by the I-T department, among others.
“The BJP is not implementing cooperative federalism with its supporters in letter and spirit,” an MP told Deccan Chronicle.
Though it is too early to say that Mr Rao’s honeymoon with the NDA is over, but the Monsoon Session is bound to have another opposition for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
