Stars share biryani treat

Biriyani dabbas from Kushboo and Jai are much in demand among their industry friends

As the holy month of Ramzan comes to an end, Muslims across the globe are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today. For Nakhat Khan, popularly known as Kushboo, Ramzan is a day for fun, frolic and family get-togethers. “And of course biriyani! Without biriyani, our Eid celebrations are incomplete,” she says. The actress also reveals that she would be sending biryani dabbas to all her friends in the city.

“We all wake up early, wear new clothes that are purchased for the festival. This year my family and friends will come together at my residence to celebrate the occasion,” she says and adds, “This time around I am going to cook biriyani. I make both chicken and mutton varieties. I also make sweet dishes like the traditional sheer khurma with vermicelli, dates, milk and sugar and double ka meetha which is normally served as breakfast after Eid prayer. We hog all day and our diet regime goes for a toss. Also there is the tradition that on Eid day, the elders in the family should give money to the youngest. I used to get lot of money as a kid since, I was the youngest,” she shares.

She is not the only one. Actor Jai is also looking forward to eat and share biriyani with close friends from the industry. He says, “Just like every year, I’ll go to the masjid for the morning prayer — after which my cousin’s family and several friends will come home to have the special Eid biriyani. Yuvan is always one of my favourite guests, and he’ll be coming for sure apart from some other actor friends. I also make it a point to send biriyani parcels from home to other friends like director Venkat Prabhu and so on.”
