Paayum Puli (PP) will be a significant movie in my career. This is the third time I am donning khaki. I play an undercover cop in PP and the story is set against the backdrop of Madurai. I won’t say it is based on real life incidents, but it may have semblance to some of the events that took place in Madurai,” Vishal tells us.

About the title Paayum Puli (Pouncing Tiger in English) which has different connotations, he says with a smile, “Very simple! It is an action film and we needed a forceful title. I and director Suseendhran thought this title of Rajini sir’s earlier film is apt for the film. And no sooner had we approached AVM Balasubramaniam who owns the original title, he gladly gave it to us. I feel the title has tremendous value.”

The actor is teaming up with Susee for the second time. “Susee’s Pandiya Naadu was a turning point which sort of helped my re-entry into Tamil cinema. Each time I work with a director, I want the best from him, especially for the climax. It is the climax that stays with audiences after they leave. Susee crafted a breathtaking climax in Pandiya And similarly for Paayum Puli Susee has crafted an extraordinary climax which I feel film is the best of his career,” Vishal says. The movie, which has Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead, will be simultaneously released in Tamil and Telugu on September 4.
