Ashwin pins hopes on a satire
Ashwin Kakumanu, who has three films in his kitty, has signed a film titled Thollai Katchi with debutant Sadiq Khan. Billed as a rom-com, the film features an ensemble cast with each cast member having a pivotal role. According to Ashwin, it is the film’s script that made him sign the dotted line, as he felt the movie is a satire on various things, and is sure to go down well with audiences.
He says, “I was impressed with the flow of the events in the story. The director was an assistant to AR Murugadoss and Lingusamy, and his experience working with veterans comes through in the script. Though I will be seen playing a jovial character in the initial scenes of the film, my role undergoes a gradual transformation, building up to a certain realisation in the climax, which is the crux of the movie.”
Thollai Katchi is set against the backdrop of a town, and has 555 fame Chandini Sreedharan playing the female lead. Dharan has been roped in to score music for the film, which will start shooting from August.
