Krishnagiri: The Operation Muskan, a nationwide campaign to trace missing children, has rescued nine children including two girls in Krishnagiri. Six of the kids were found begging on the streets. Three of the nine kids have been reunited with their families and efforts are on to trace the parents of other children.
P.Baghya (name changed), 15 of Krishnagiri went missing a few months ago after the girl ventured out of the house. Her parents gave a girl missing complaint in Krishnagiri police station but police were unable to trace her.
Meanwhile, the ‘
Operation Muskan team’ appointed by Krishnagiri collector T.P.Rajesh following the Supreme
Court order for tracing the missing children, got information that Baghya had eloped with her lover and was staying in a village in Krishnagiri bordering Andhra Pradesh. She was reunited with her parents. However, her lover escaped, fearing arrest for kidnapping the minor girl.
In yet another incident, 16 years old T.Vennilla, upset because of the ill treatment by her relatives, ran away from the home. She was rescued by Lakshmipuram villagers in kelamangalam, 15 km from Hosur of Krishnagiri. Later, she was handed over to the Operation Mushkaan team who reunited her with her family.
A 17-year-old boy, Gokulnath of Hosur, was also rescued by the team when the boy was standing near the Krishnagiri bus stand. Six others who were found begging on the road were also rescued and investigations are under way to trace their parents.
