Government launches ‘Skill India’, to train 40 crore people by 2022
New Delhi: Launching the ambitious “Skill India 2022” mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stated that the government has “launched a war against poverty”. The government also stated that a legislation would soon be moved to unveil “Skill University” across the country.
He also expressed hope that India would become a global powerhouse of human resources on the lines of China being one in manufacturing. He added that India could provide 40 to 50 million skilled workforce for the global requirement.
“We need to have futuristic vision and prepare plans for the next 10 years. There is a need for regular interaction between industry and technology experts. If China is like a manufacturing factory of the world, India should become the human resource capital of the world. That should be our target," said the Prime Minister at the launch programme at Vigyan Bhavan. With this initiative, the government aims to train 40 crore people by 2022.
