The unprecedented success of S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali has not daunted Kabir Khan whose Bajrangi Bhaijaan (BB) releases this week. The director says, “I am absolutely thrilled by the response to Baahubali. What Rajamouli has achieved is absolutely unprecedented. But with due respect, the film’s lead actors Prabhas and Rana Daggubatti are not superstars in the North. The film has worked overall for its concept, execution and screenplay.”

Kabir has his own reasons to be happy with the success of Baahubali. “The film is written by K. Vijayendra Prasad who has also written Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Writing and direction are clearly the stars of the show. I am hoping Vijayendraji’s magic works for our film too,” he says. Kabir says he is not at all apprehensive about the mega-success of Baahubali eating into the BB ticket sales. “Not at all! We are talking that way only because of the scarcity of screens in India. We have only more than 4,000 screens, while China has 12,000. There will always be a tussle for a large number of screens between two big films,” says the director, who feels there is room for both films to co-exist in theatres this Friday.
