Honda to ramp up production

Company to make Rs 380 crore investment into its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan

Hyderabad: Honda Cars India is planning to invest Rs 380 crore in ramping up its production capacity by mid-2016, a top company official said here on Wednesday. The investment will be made into its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan in expanding its existing capacity by 60,000 units, taking the total count to 1,80,000 units and overall production from the two plants to 300,000 by mid-2016. Honda had recently commissioned its second plant at Greater Noida.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Jazz in Hyderabad, Honda Cars senior vice-president (marketing and sales) Jnaneswar Sen said, “Apart from investments, we are also looking at expanding our dealerships from the 232 in April, 2015 in 157 cities to 300 dealerships by March 2016 covering 200 cities.

”The company has been witnessing steady growth on the back of launch of diesel variants of its popular models.“We have seen good growth even when the markets slowed because of demand for diesel cars,” Mr Sen added.
