Party continues to be vibrant despite desertions :EVKS Elangovan

Thanjavur: After the next Assembly elections, a situation will arise that no party will be able to form the government without the help of the Congress said E.V.K.S. Elangovan, president, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee here on Tuesday.Speaking at the party’s workers meeting in connection with the visit of Rahul Gandhi, vice-president of the party to Tiruchy on July 23 to take part in the birthday celebrations of Kamaraj, former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Elangovan said that the Congress will seek a berth in the cabinet after the elections.

“Kamaraj rule” in Tamil Nadu was considered the golden rule as he brought all round development to the state as chief minister, particularly in the field of education,” Elangovan said. He said that some persons had left the Congress and started their own party, but they cannot do anything to the Congress as it continues to be strong and vibrant. He appealed to party workers to come in large numbers to Rahul Gandhi’s meeting at Tiruchy.

Elangovan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not done anything except tour other countries in the last 11 months. During the rule of the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), interest for agricultural loans was only 7 per cent. If farmers repaid loans in time, that interest also would be reduced to four per cent. But now, interest for agricultural loans is 11 per cent. Procurement price is also not remunerative, he added.
