Stress damaged Pratyusha’s health

Pratyusha had a plate full of idli and thanked the nursing staff for giving her sufficient food to eat

Hyderabad: Due to torture, malnutrition and stress, Pratyusha’s menstrual cycle has stopped and her ovaries and uterus are underdeveloped.

Consultant gynecologist Dr G. Santhoshini said, “It was found that she had her periods regularly but since the last seven months, her cycle has been badly affected. It is because of the stress and malnourishment. But there is no internal damage to the uterus and proper care, food and a lifestyle of confidence will help to resume her normal cycle again.”

Dr N. Ravindra, consultant interventional pulmonology and critical care medicine said, “There is a marked improvement in her condition and the latest scan results have shown that there is no damage to the stomach and esophagus (from being forced to drink acid).”

On Tuesday morning, Pratyusha had a plate full of idli and thanked the nursing staff for giving her sufficient food to eat.

But what she does need is help in rehabilitation. A senior doctor explained, “She goes into bouts of depression as she retells her story. Whenever she is alone, her confidence levels are very low as she is very scared. She will require a very good rehabilitation program and a very strong social support system.”
