Sandra Venkata Veeraiah gets bail in ACB court
Hyderabad: The special court for Anti Corruption Bureau cases on Tuesday granted a conditional bail to Telangana TD MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, an accused in the cash-for-vote scam.
Mr Veeraiah was released from Cherlapally jail on Tuesday evening. The ACB court while granting bail to the accused MLA directed him to furnish two sureties of Rs 2 lakh each.
The court imposed conditions that he should confine to his Assembly constituency Sattupally in Khammam district. He was also asked to surrender his passport.
Mr Veeraiah was arrested by TS ACB on July 6 and was later grilled by ACB sleuths in police custody for two days. After being released from jail Mr Veeraiah alleged, “This is a conspiracy of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. To settle political scores in Khammam district they have foisted a false case against me.”
It was alleged by ACB that Veeraiah was part of conspiracy in bribing Anglo Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson. Mr Veeraiah’s counsel refuted the allegations of his involvement in the conspiracy.
