Man loses four family members and his 12-year-old son in the Pushkaralu stampede

Mr Rao, hailing from Srikakulam district, had reached Rajahmundry with 14 relatives

Rajahmundry: Even onlookers could not bear the intense grief that B. Kameswara Rao is undergoing, having lost four of his family members, including his son, to the stampede at Pushkar ghat on Tuesday.

Mr Rao, hailing from Amudalavalasa of Srikakulam district, had reached Rajahmundry with 14 relatives for the Pushkarulu on Monday. Rao lost his son B. Prasanth Kumar, 12, two sisters-in-law Potnuri Lakshmi, 42, Potnuri Amaravathi, 45, and his mother-in-law Kothakota Kalavathi, 62. Rao’s wife Indira was inconsolable.

“My son wanted to see the Godavari Pushkaralu and take the holy dip. We had come all this way only to see him dead. We wanted him to become a doctor. I don’t know how to live without him and tell his grandmother who is not aware of his death.”
