Kulithalai: Some advocates of the Kulithalai Bar association abstained from court proceedings at Kulithalai on Tuesday, protesting against the inspector of police, Lalapet police station, who allegedly depicted advocates and judges in bad taste on his Facebook page. According to Shakul Hamed, president of the Kulithalai Bar Association, police inspector D. Jayakumar deliberately denigrated both bench and bar on his Facebook page.
Mr Shakul Hameed also said that advocates will stage a demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police at Kulithalai tomorrow in protest, and would continue the court boycott until July 16. When this correspondent contacted Mr Jayakumar, he denied any denigrating remarks against bar and bench and said that he had simply forwarded postings he had received on his Facebook page.
