Exodus from Congress

Leaders likely to quit party before Rahul’s visit to AP
Vijayawada: The leaders of the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress have planned to invite several Congress leaders into their parties in view of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi’s tour in Anantapur district on July 24.
Already, several Congress leaders received invitations from both the TD and the YSRC leaders. Former minister D. Manikya Varaprasad’s resignation has come to limelight and rumours are doing rounds in political circles that some other prominent leaders may leave the Congress.
According to ongoing developments, the TD and YSRC have focused attention on the Cong-ress leaders. The Congress has lost its base at the grassroot level after state bifurcation and most of them joined other parties. But a few leaders are still in the Congress.
Especially PCC chief Raghuveera Reddy, Sailajanath, Mastan Vali, Dokka Manikyavara Prasad, Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru), Malladi Vishnu, K. Murali and Killi Krupa Rani are continuing in the Congress. Now the rumours are doing rounds that some other leaders may join the YSRC.
Actually the entry of former minister Dokka Manikayala Rao into the YSRC was almost finalised but MP Rayapati Samabasiva Rao stopped his entry. The former minister may join the TD following the suggestions of his political mentor Rayapati.
Similarly, some other leaders who are active in the Congress at present may also join the YSRC. Former PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana is using all his efforts to attract the Congress leaders.
PCC official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji admitted that Satyanarayana recently met several Congress leaders. But he said that the Congress leaders might not follow Satyanarayana, he added. Besides, the rumours are doing rounds that the Congress leaders would join the YSRC before Rahul Gandhi’s visit. They have planned to give a jolt to the AICC leader.
