CM Chandrababu Naidu orders judicial probe into the Pushkaralu stampede

Mr Naidu earlier announced ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the bereaved families

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a judicial inquiry into the circumstances that led to the stampede at the Kotagummam ghat in Rajahmundry.

He said he would take action against those responsible based on the probe report. Mr Naidu earlier announced ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that he would stay in Rajahmundry till the last day of Pushkarams — July 25. He made this announcement soon after the stampede.

Later, it was corrected that the Chief Minister would stay till normalcy is restored. Mr Naidu, at one point of time, expressed ire over local officials and police saying that “When the situation is like this when I am in the city, what would be the position once I leave for Hyderabad?”
