600 MW Bhupalapally second unit in 2 months
Hyderabad: The power situation will only improve in the coming months. The 600 MW Bhupalapally second unit will be put into operation by September 2015.
Another 1,200 MW power will be generated through two units from Jaipur (Singareni power project in Adilabad) by February-March 2016.
Mr Devulapally Prabhakar Rao, chairman-cum-managing director of TS Genco, TS Transco, said another 250 MW power is expected from the Centre’s share.
By the end of the year, 500 MW of solar power — which may go up to 1000 MW — will be commissioned, said Mr Rao.
He said that TS will make long-term purchase of 540 MW from private producers at an average cost of Rs 4 per unit. “Nearly 3000 MW of power will be added in this financial year, and CM has already decided not to buy power from next year,” Mr Prabhakar Rao said.
“From the existing 8,809 MW installed capacity we will reach to 26,022 MW by 2018. This will make TS power surplus and meet demand of new lift irrigation schemes,” he added.
