BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a three-and-half-year-old boy was beaten to death using a stick by his 15-year-old cousin brother in Nyanappanahalli in Hulimavu police station limits on Monday noon. Police has identified the victim as Pritam, son of Ravi, a mason and a resident of Nyanappanahalli. They have arrested the 15-year-old minor in this connection.
The accused was his distant relative of the deceased child from his mother’s side. He was residing in a nearby house in Nyanappanahalli and working at a hotel. According to the police, around 3 pm, the accused went to his aunt’s house and told her that he would take Pritam to his house to play, while the child’s mother, a housewife, got busy with household chores.
The incident came to light when the Pritam’s mother went to check on him, around 5 pm, and found him lying in an unconscious state on the bed with injuries on his stomach and back. She immediately informed her husband Ravi, who rushed to the house and took their child to a nearby Kavya Hospital. The doctors after examining the child declared him dead.
Aggrieved parents then approached Hulimavu police and lodged a complaint against the boy. Based on a complaint, the police arrested him. He then confessed that he had beaten Pritam, as he was not listening to him and throwing clothes, shoes and other items in the house. When in spite of warning him he didn’t listen, to teach him a lesson, the accused beat him with a stick, said the police.
