Telugu actress Madhuurima is part of Azhar, the Bollywood biopic on former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. Interestingly, she is not acting in the film, but has joined the crew as an assistant director.
“Yes, I am working as an assistant director for this Hindi film and will be off to the UK soon for shooting,” says Madhuurima.
The unit will shoot for a month in the UK. “I have always wanted to assist once for a film to see and understand filmmaking in totality,” she says.
“This will give me an opportunity to visualise the entire film and enhance my work,” she adds. Madhuurima says that she got on board as she knew the director’s wife. “I am working with the film’s director Tony D’Souza’s wife, who is directing One Night Stand. We are good friends and that’s how I know Tony. So when I asked him if I could be assistant director, he welcomed me,” says Madhuurima.
