Andhra Pradesh’s national institutes on fast track
IISER has offered 75 seats at their temporary campus at Tirupati

Hyderabad: Identification and acquisition of land has been done for the seven national institutions proposed to be set up in Andhra Pradesh by the Centre, according to collectors of the districts where the institutions are coming up.
Secretary of higher education Sumitra Dawra told the AP chief secretary at a meeting on Monday that classes can be started at the IIM and IIIT if faculty is appointed.
The joint collector of Chittoor district said that IIT-Chennai is prepared to start classes at the temporary campus immediately. Several students have opted for admission to civil, mechanical, electronics and IT engineering courses although it was a new one. Meanwhile, IISER has offered 75 seats at their temporary campus at Tirupati and admissions will be done through an entrance examination.
The chief secretary told the district administration to hand over available land without encroachments to IIT and IISER. For IIIT-Kurnool, 27 acres of land has been acquired and the CS directed the collector to hand it over.
