Bhadradri ready for the big show

Khammam: The stage is set for Godavari Pushkaralu at all eight Pushkar ghats in the district. Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy will declare the commencement of festival by taking a holy dip in Godavari river at 6.26 am on Tuesday. Minister for roads and buildings T. Nageswara Rao and Minister for irrigation T. Harish Rao will have a bath in Bhadrachalam.
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the safety of the devotees and private vehicles will be stopped from midnight of Monday. About 36 cops will direct the vehicle flow towards Bhadrachalam. These cops can send the details on the number of vehicles coming from three routes to Bhadrachalam and send it to the control room. These details will be updated online. A total 4,000 cops including two additional SPs, 15 DSPs, 69 CIs, 235 SIs, 525 ASIs and head constables, 1,400 police constables, 600 home guards, 101 women police constables, 10 special parties, 240 armed forces, three companies TS special police and one NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) are posted at various locations in the district.
On Tuesday morning the government will release 2,000 cusecs of water from Kadem project and 3,000 cusecs from Sriramsagar project to provide adequate water.
Special officer for Khammam district Aravind Kumar inspected the pushkar ghats in Bhadrachalam and Parnasala and gave directions on pilgrims’ safety.
“I directed the officials to place boats by engaging swimmers at all pushkar ghats to avoid untoward incidents. These boats will ensure that devotees walking in the river will not venture into deep places,” he said. It is expected that five lakh devotees will attend per day at the two pushkar ghats in Bhadrachalam, two lakh at Parnasala, 10,000 at Mothe and 50,000 each at Ramanujavaram, Chinaravigudem and Ramachandrapuram Pushkar ghats. Section 144 will be imposed at unauthorised hats to take a holy dip by the pilgrims keeping the safety of pilgrims in view.
