Kidnap drama ends, police nabs the ‘victim, abductor’
Rizwan and Radhika eloped to Cuttack and called her husband Mahesh to tell that she had been abducted
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police ended a kidnap drama by arresting the “victim” and her abductor from Kolkata. Police found the woman A. Radhika, 23, and her lover Mohammed Rizwan, 20, a native of Navada, Bihar, were planning to extort money from her husband by playing a drama. Police found the pictures of the tied up victim sent to her husband via Whatsapp by the abductor were staged.
Police said that Rizwan and Radhika eloped to Cuttack and called her husband Mahesh to tell that she had been abducted. Rizwan clicked a photo of her after tying her up, and sent them to Mahesh via Whatsapp seeking Rs 3 lakh as ransom “Mahesh paid Rs 10,500 fearing that she will be killed. With that money they went to Kolkata and stayed at Rizwan’s brother’s house. Our team went and arrested them and found that Radhika was also playing along,” said Shamshabad DCP A.R. Srinivas.
Police said that Rizwan, who works in a restaurant at Rayadurgam, had been in touch with Radhika since four years. They used to chat and talk. Though they stopped talking for a year later they continued to talk over the phone.
“Radhika was harassed by her husband and she became close to Rizwan. After talking over the phone and frequent chats through Whatsapp they decided to elope,” said the investigation official. Mahesh said his wife Radhika had gone missing on July 7. Earlier, his wife was found chatting and talking with an unknown person over the phone. The couple had also fought over the issue. Police said that Mahesh and Radhika got married seven years ago and they have a six-year-old child. They had been quarreling about her lover who used to call her frequently.
