DC impact: Special cop suspended for taking bribe

Top officials called Madhav for an inquiry after seeing the item

Hyderabad: Following a letter published in Deccan Chronicle’s Speakout column, the police suspended a special branch cop for taking bribe during passport verification.

B. Apala Suri, an HC of Begumpet police station, was suspended for taking Rs 1,050 as bribe from a CA student named Madhav Pabari. Top officials called Madhav for an inquiry after seeing the item.

The cop, who came to Madhav’s residence near Paradise allegedly asked him to give Rs 5,000 for a spelling mistake in his father’s name in his Aadhaar card, and threatened that he would not clear the application. The cop asked me for Rs 5,000. I paid him Rs 1,050, said Madhav.
