Mahendran will be playing a baddie in the film

Director Atlee has roped in veteran Tamil director J Mahendran of the Mullum Malarum fame, to act in Vijay 59. We hear that Mahendran will be playing a baddie in the film.
Sources say that the director was finalised to play an interesting negative character that is being touted to be quite different from the usual ones.
They also added that Mahendran is expected to join the cast on the sets soon. Rumours are abuzz that renowned filmmaker Bharathiraja was initially approached for the role, but he turned down the offer.
Apparently, Atlee approached Mahendran as he has Rajinikanth’s mannerisms. Though Mahendran was initially apprehensive of taking up the role; Atlee managed to convince Mahendran with his narration of the script and screenplay. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Vijay 59 stars Samantha, Amy Jackson, Prabhu, Raadhika in prominent roles.
