Telangana Congress slams TRS, defectors
Hyderabad: Blaming their colleagues who defected to the TRS, Telangana Congress leaders on Sunday said TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had vitiated the political scene like never before.
Telangana PCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy told party frontal organisations to be cautious of the TRS’ “nefarious activities” and appealed to them to strengthen the party in order to return to power in 2019. He was speaking at Gandhi Bhavan where the TPCC had organised a meeting with office bearers of the NSUI and the Youth Congress.
While admitting that genuine party workers had been ignored in previous regimes, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that he will not repeat such mistakes.
Mr Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition in the Council, said leaders like Dr K. Kesava Rao, who “used to be a tiger” in the Congress had to content himself with an MP’s seat in the TRS. He accused former TPCC chief D. Srinivas of selling party ‘B’ forms issued to candidates while in Congress, and joining the TRS only to grab a post.
TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said Congress activists had only one option, that of “waging war” against the TRS government for its anti-people programmes and work in unity for the success of the Congress.
