Infrastructure projects on vacant lands soon in Visakhapatnam
Around 1,566 open spaces measuring 947 acres were also identified to be developed
Visakhapatnam: Vuda is looking at developing vacant land parcels under its purview and also those open spaces that come under GVMC limits in the city. The urban development body is in possession of around 64 land parcels totalling an area of 2,300 acres of land in its region spread from Vizag to Srikakulam.
Further, GVMC, which is the biggest Municipal Corporation in Andhra Pradesh, is also part of Vuda region and the civic body itself has 1,178 layout open spaces and 10 major chunks of land. Apart from the GVMC, in other local bodies covering in VUDA area is also having a land bank and needs to be assessed for feasibility of development.
Vuda has decided to undertake assessment of suitability of these sites for development of feasible infrastructure projects on the same through Public-Private Partnership. The urban development body had invited bids from reputed consultants for providing consultancy services for ‘site assessment and preliminary market assessment of viable project concepts approved on select suitable land parcels in Vuda region’.
Initially in the first phase, around 2,502 acres of vacant land divided into various parcels have been identified for development. Around 1,566 open spaces measuring 947 acres were also identified to be developed.
“A Request For Proposal (RFP) for consultancy services for site assessment and preliminary market assessment of viable project concepts approved on select suitable land parcels has been issued. We will open the bids in the coming week. The consultant has to asses all these sites and study what kind of projects can be taken up and whether they can be financially viable or not. The consultancy will be selected shortly. These projects can be shopping complexes, amusement parks, parks, recreation activity arenas, etc,” said a senior official of Vuda.
