GHMC and fire wing hike rates

Hyderabad: The GHMC and the Fire department have revised the rates for small nursing homes by bringing them under commercial properties.

Majority of small hospitals are in residential areas and their property rates have jumped from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum. Also, their trade license is calculated on the basis of square feet, which is to Rs 2-5 lakh per annum.

Dr Ravinder Reddy, pediatrician explained, “Most of the nursing homes were established in the early 1980s or late 1990s. They are in residential colonies. We are adhering to all fire safety measures and ensuring that there is an extra staircase, fire extinguishers and preparedness drill is carried out.”
