Best HR practices discussed at Bullayya College
Stalwarts from IT, ITES companies and consultants share their experiences
Visakhapatnam: Vizag Information Technology Association (VITA) as part of it’s Best Practices Series conducted a session at Bullayya College Seminar Hall on Sunday involving all the IT & ITES member companies and Engineering member colleges in Visakhapatnam.
The theme of the session was “HR Best Practices in IT Industry.” The speakers included eminent personalities with more than 20 years of experience from big IT and ITES companies and a couple of experienced consultants.
General manager and location leader – Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, Denny Thomas, spoke about Concentrix which was earlier IBM Daksh having more than 20,000 employees in India and mentioned that there are around 1,000 employees at Vizag and that recruiting right skilled people into the organisation is of paramount importance for the success of a company.
Shivani Sharma, HR leader — Vizag and Hyderabad of Concentrix, gave a presentation on the HR best practices followed by ITES industry and specifically to Concentrix, as to how they were able to attract talent and retain them. She mentioned that Concentrix has a lot of best practices and shared the reward and recognition programme’s adopted by them and what motivates an employee to stay with the organisation for a long period of time.
Sri Krishnan Sundarajan, programme director, Smarter Workforce from IBM, Vizag, spoke on how one can leverage technology and create a smarter workforce and shared how IBM can play a vital role in developing small and medium companies. He expressed interest to interact with the Vizag-based companies and find ways to build a smarter workforce that can help Visakhapatnam get the much needed impetus in the IT roadmap of Andhra Pradesh. He mentioned that large organisations culture is built over a period of time and employees feel the pride of associating with that brand.
Winston Adams, secretary, VITA and head of Best Practices Committee, who was moderating the HR Best Practices Session, mentioned that creating a good organisation culture is very important for the well-being of employees, the management as employees stay for a long time with the company and makes the company grow and become profitable. Employees need not look for going out of Vizag, he said.
