29 lakh petitions submitted to Chandrababu Naidu still pending

Most of petitions received during Janmabhoomi programme

Hyderabad: The snail’s pace of redressing public grievances in AP surfaced when it was revealed that out of 33 lakh petitions submitted to AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, around 29.1 lakh grievances are pending.

The worst performing departments are revenue, civil supplies, panchayat raj, finance and municipal bodies that are flooded with grievances on pensions, land issues and ration cards. Interestingly, the status of most of petitions received during Janmabhoomi programme has not been uploaded online.

The situation is so grim that the municipal department has issued orders to its staff stating that “it is very embarrassing situation” for the department with pending grievances”.

Mr K. Kanna Babu, director of municipal administration, in his circular to all commissioners of urban local bodies in AP said, “Around 92,617 grievances were received. Of them, 86,874 are pending and 4,662 are redressed. It is embarrassing that the department with lot of pending grievances, got important programmes like Janmabhoomi-Mana vooru.”

However, AP said that most petitions are in “the process of redressal”. AP government adviser Mr Parakala Prabhakar said, “Most of these petitions are at various stages of redressal. A petition on pension may be sent to an officer and is being pursued. They can’t be categorised as not redressed. They are pending.”
