Two notorious gangsters held by anti-gangster squad
Chennai: Two notorious gangsters were rounded up by the anti-gangster squad of the city police in a covert operation on Saturday night. The gangsters J. Prakash (36) and M. Madurai Veeran (27) were picked up from their hideouts in Mangadu and Vyasarpadi, police said. Deadly weapons were recovered from them. Both of them have warrants pending against them and were recently out of jail.
Prakash is notorious for his involvement in more than ten cases of robberies at gunpoint across the state. He was the main accused in a case in 2004 under Pallikaranai police limits for robbing 3 kgs of gold from a jeweller and a warrant from Alandur court is still pending against him. He was also arrested under the Goondas act three times, police said.
The other accused, Maduraiveeran is part of a gang and has murder cases against him in M.K.B Nagar police station in the city. He has more than seven cases against him and was detained under the goondas act.
