Decoding the bridal look

A simple outfit or a decked-up one, here's how you can pull it off
Hyderabad: Along with the wedding jitters, if there’s one thing that worries the bride, it has to be her look for the D-Day. Whether you’re someone who likes to be simple or likes to go all out on your wedding day — the rule is simple — you need to shine.
The recent example of a simple bride who was stunning was Mira Rajput, Shahid Kapoor’s wife, and an example of a stunning bride who was all decked-up was designer Nishka Lulla.
Here are ways in which you can adopt either look.
An easy guidebook for the simple bride-to-be:
1 “Brides should look towards the pastel colour zone, it just gives you a simple, yet ethereal look. Keep jewellery to the minimum, you don’t want it to be over the top. Brides can opt for bigger earrings like a chandbaali and a simple neckpiece, that way the attention is not drawn away from the dress,” says Tanya Ghavri.
2 “If you like to do up your eyes then do that, you can’t have your eyes done and have a lot of lipstick either, choose one element and highlight that,” adds Tanya.
3 “One can opt for a one-toned look, that way it is very subtle. Subtle colours with fine work on the lehenga or sari make for a very classy look,” explains designer Anamika Khanna.
4 “Now, brides want to keep it simple. I would suggest that if you are opting for a simple dress, let your hair and make-up speak. But if you’re going in for a decked-up dress, opt for simple make-up,” says Alpa Khimani, who was Mira Rajput’s stylist.
Tips for the bride-to-be who wants to be decked-up:
1 “For a decked-up look, one can always opt for more traditional colours like reds, greens, etc. The lehenga or sari can be paired up with a statement jadau necklace that just draws attention, they can opt for small earrings and a maang teeka,” says Tanya Ghavri.
2 “While accessories are very important ensure you don’t go overboard. Bridal wear should be about understated elegance and not overpowering bling,” says designer Anita Dongre.
3 “If you’re wearing a high neck lehenga, make sure that you don’t wear a necklace, whether it is for a decked-up look or for a simple look. That just looks like we’re putting a lot of things in one place,” says Alpa Khimani.
4 “It is important to stay true to your style and stick to what you’re comfortable with. Also, based on how your wedding is planned, whether it is a simple one or a grand wedding, dress accordingly,” says Anamika Khanna.
