Indian tricolour featured in ‘ABCD 2’ censored by Islamabad’s Censor Board

The dance flick which released in Pakistan on June 19 has not managed to fare well there

Mumbai: ‘ABCD 2’ crossed several records by cashing in more than 100 crores at the Indian box office. The Censor Board in Islamabad had issues with the Indian tricolour being displayed in the film. The blockbuster which released in Pakistan on June 19, has not fared well despite its amazing run at the Indian box office.

According to reports, the ‘Censor Board of Film Censors’ asked for two deletions- passionate lip kissing shots and Indian flags. The tricolour flag has been displayed prominently in many parts of the film, particularly in its climax song ‘Vande Mataram’. Solely because of this reason, Pakistan’s biggest exhibitors Mandviwalla Entertainment decided not to screen the film at their theatre.

According to the 18th amendment passed in 2011, the duty of film censorship in Pakistan is carried out by different bodies in different provinces. As a result, the decisions can often vary radically across the country. Earlier too, Aamir Khan's ‘PK’ was censored in a harsh manner.
