Rishiraj’s dismissal a vendetta, says VS Achuthanandan

Mr Achuthanandan said that Mr Singh had not even completed a year as chief vigilance officer

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan on Saturday demanded immediate reinstatement of Rishiraj Singh who was removed from the post of chief vigilance officer of KSEB.

In a statement, the Opposition leader alleged that Mr Singh had been removed from the post in haste as he managed to unearth and serious irregularities by influential and powerful industrialists known to be close to the government.

The immediate provocation for Mr Singh’s removal was his action against the irregularities of a leading financial institution which is allegedly close to the CM, he said.

Mr Achuthanandan said that Mr Singh had not even completed a year as chief vigilance officer. During this period he had unearthed power thefts and other serious irregularities by powerful sections allegedly close UDF leaders.

The officer brought to light the power theft taking place in the house of a former Congress minister in Ernakulam. During his 10 month period in office Mr Singh unearthed power theft and violations worth Rs 35 crores and slapped fine against violators, he added.

By shifting out an upright officer known for his uncompromising stand on corruption, the CM has given a green signal to continue with power theft and violations.
