Police gears up for Godavari Pushkaralu
Karimnagar: Karimnagar Superintendent of Police D. Joel Davis said that foolproof security measures were taken to avoid untoward incidents during the 12-day Godavari Pusharalu scheduled to be held from July 14 to 25 at 22 locations on the Godavari river in Karimnagar district.
Explaining the security arrangements to pres-smen here on Saturday, Mr Davis said that as many as 7,000 police personnel would be deploy-ed at 22 venues for smooth conduct of Pushkaralu of Telangana state.
“Unprecedented security measures have been made to avoid untoward incidents at the venues. Devotees can take holy dip without any apprehensions at the venue of their choice,” he asserted.
“As many as 5,798 police personnel and around 1,200 volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and voluntary organisations would be deployed at 36 bathing ghats constructed at 22 locations. Apart from district cops, police personnel from neighbouring Medak, Nalgonda and Mahboobnagar districts are discharging duties at bathing ghats,” Mr Davis said.
“A total of 140 police pickets and 60 check posts were installed. Security will be stepped up at temples near Pushkaralu venues. “Area domination parties, bomb disposable squads and dog squads will frequently carry out intensive anti-sabotage inspections. Round-the-clock patrolling will be done through mobile police parties, jeeps and motorcycles, auto-rickshaws. Special bondobust will be in place from parking lots to bathing ghats,” he said.
He advised parents to keep slip of their addresses and phone numbers in the pockets of their children to trace them if they go missing during the event.
