KOCHI: The news of another gas cylinder blast came as a shocker for the people in Kochi.  The building complex which housed the apartment at the fifth floor has not suffered any damages.

The impact of the explosion confined to the apartment. As per the initial reports the Veni and her daughter Kiran were killed in a suicide attempt and not owing to defective cylinder.

Police and forensic experts have launched detailed study at the explosion site to unearth whether the cylinder which blasted at Edappally was defective.

According to Elamakkara SI C V Sooraj there is no damage to the other flats in the six storied flat complex. The couple Shibu and his live-in partner Veni were living in the 5th floor of the complex.

Experts point out that modern flat complex can withstand the cylinder blasts. At least three gas cylinder blast cases were reported in Kochi in 2012 owing to the defects in cylinders.

A few days ago another suspected case of suicide using a gas cylinder was reported from the outskirts Aluva.
