Karnataka: Transformer banks in every taluk
BELAGAVI: Energy minister D K Shivakumar said on Saturday the government launched transformer banks in every taluk in order to ensure that faulty ones are replaced quickly and for continuous supply of electricity.
He told the media here that in the first phase, transformer repair facilities were set up in 13 taluks including eight in Belagavi. The energy department has hardly received any complaints about defective transformers and other power-related problems in the last one year in taluks where transformer banks and repair facilities were established, he added.
The minister said the department has taken another initiative to set up advisory committees, particularly in rural areas, to resolve problems related to transformers. In coordination with officials of the department, these committees were working effectively to avoid problems in their respective areas.
The government commenced a project to lay underground cables in Belagavi.
