Business-to-Business monsoon carnival ‘Splash’ begins
KALPETTA: Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar inaugurated the ‘Business-to-Business’ meet organised in connection with the 7th edition of Splash, the three-day Wayanad Monsoon Carnival, at Vythiri on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Anilkumar appreciated the Wayanad model of tourism where public and private sector come together to promote the destination.
“The policy of the state government is responsible and sustainable tourism and the activities of the Wayanad Tourism Organization also underline the same principles,” he added.
Mr Anilkumar also promised to ensure more active participation of the tourism department in the event in the coming years.
Mr M.V. Shreyamskumar MLA presided over the function. District collector Kesavendra Kumar, who is also the chairman of the District Tourism Promotion Council, said that discussions were on to make the event a one-month programme with the cooperation of the department of tourism.
Meanwhile, 350 travel agents and potential buyers from across the nation participated in the business meet where 102 property owners showcased their properties.
In the afternoon, the travel agents visited the selected properties for a ground experience.
Among the travel agents, the highest number has registered from Maharashtra (130). Interestingly, travel agents from Kashmir are also participating in the event which would conclude on Sunday.
