Tirupati: In a ghastly incident, a minor girl was sexually assaulted by a drunken youth near Thattevaripalli under Damalacheruvu panchayat in Pakala mandal on Saturday.
The parents and villagers tied the accused to a tree in a mango orchard and beat him black and blue before handing over to the police.
According to Pakala police, an eight-year-old girl of Thattevaripalli was grazing cattle in the fields near her village. The accused identified as Bujji (23) of Gundlapalli village of Irala mandal noticed the lone girl and befriended her by offering candies and biscuits.
He played with her and after confirming that nobody was around, he forcibly took the girl behind a bush and committed the crime. The victim's parents reached the cattle grazing place after the girl raised an alarm. Police took him into custody and registered a case.
