‘Baahubali’ creates history with opening day collection

The film released in 4,000 plus theatres worldwide

Mumbai: SS Rajamouli's magnum opus grabbed eyeballs with its first trailer and since then the fans have been waiting with bated breath to watch the most-anticipated film of the year.

The film, which has been compared to Hollywood blockbuster 300, smashed all records with its first day collections as high as 50 crore.

Touted as one of the most expensive films made in the country with a reported budget of about Rs 200 crore, the period action drama starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishna, Anushka and Tamanna in lead roles released in 4,000 plus theatres worldwide.

The film has not just become the biggest opener of the year, but has also recorded the highest first day collections ever.

It took approximately 383 days to shoot the film which went on floors on July 6 2013 in a village in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. As many as 2000 junior artistes shot for war scenes with props.

While the film has released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, it will also be dubbed in foreign languages like Chinese and Japanese in a couple of months.
