Tabu heartbroken after beating Shriya Saran in ‘Drishyam’

The actress plays a tough cop in the film

Mumbai: Tabu, who is re-teaming with Ajay Devgn in 'Drishyam' after a gap of 14 years, says she has been looking forward to work with the actor. The 'Haider' actress said she could have done any film with him as she considers Ajay the trump card.

"When I came to know that Ajay will be acting and producing this film, I just said yes... He is a trump card. There is an advantage that I am getting to work with him. I could have done any film with him. I had the opportunity to reconnect with Ajay," Tabu said.

'Drishyam', a murder mystery set in Goa, is a remake of a successful Malayalam film of the same name. The 43-year-old actress has revealed she had seen the original Malayalam film two years back. "I saw the film earlier because my close friends had made it. I had no idea the film will be remade here (in Hindi) and I will get to play such a strong, powerful character. It

is one of the best roles that I am doing. I am fortunate that I am getting good scripts," she added.

Tabu is also all praise for her director Nishikant Kamat. "It's a nice, strong and powerful story. He (Nishikant) is an easy going person. It was a great experience. The film has Vishalji's (Vishal Bharadwaj) music... It was like reconnecting with him after 'Haider'," Tabu said.

In 'Drishyam', Tabu plays the role of a stern cop. "The police in this film is not against or for the system. It is a story of a simple family and what happens in their lives after a particular incident. Rajat Kapoor and I are family and how we get affected due to that situation," she said.

"This role had tough parts as well. I was heartbroken when I had to beat up Shriya (Ajay's wife in the film) and children but when you are in the character you cannot allow emotions to rule you," Tabu said.

'Drishyam' is releasing on July 31.
