YSRC leaders sow ‘seeds’ of anti-LPS protests

Ramakrishna Reddy, along with the farmers, released water from Tadepalli, Undavalli and Kolanukonda lift irrigation pumping scheme
Guntur: Cultivation activity restarted with the second crop in the capital region on Friday. The farmers who were reluctant to pool their land for the new capital establishment under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) have restarted cultivation activity in Undavalli on Friday. YSR Congress MLA of Mangalagiri, A. Ramakrishna Reddy led the farmers to plough the farmlands. He objected to the ban on cultivation of the second crop in the capital region villages.
Mr Ramakrishna Reddy, along with the farmers, released water from Tadepalli, Undavalli and Kolanukonda lift irrigation pumping scheme. The MLA alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is trying to wipe out cultivation by snatching all farmlands for constructing a concrete jungle and forcing farmers to migrate to other areas from their native villages. He alleged that though the government has no right to stop cultivation, the Telugu Desam government was violating the norms. He claimed that anti-LPS farmers have the right to continue cultivation hence farmers of Undavalli, Penumaka and adjacent areas started the cultivation activity.
Mentioning the warnings of Capital region Development Authority (CRDA) about acquiring unique fertile farmlands, Mr Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that earlier the government created fear among landlords/farmers in the name of LPS and now it is trying to create fear once again in the name of Land Acquisition Act.
Mr Ramakrishna Reddy added that the anti-LPS farmers have got justice from the courts and once again they will knock the doors of the court if the government implements the Land Acquisition Act.
He mentioned that the Land Acquisition Act-2013 is good for farmers but the government is amending it to benefit corporate and multinational companies. Alleging snatching of private guest houses and farmlands for Mr Naidu’s stay, the MLA said that Mr Naidu is spending huge public money for his house at Hyderabad, CM camp office at Vijayawada and for guest house on the banks of Krishna river. He raised questions as to how many houses Mr Naidu needs to reside. He alleged that the government earlier stated all constructions on the Krishna Karakatta as illegal buildings. However, Mr Naidu himself will be staying at one of such illegal constructions, thus legalising all the illegal constructions belonging to politicians and industrialists of TD.
Mr Ramakrishna Reddy, along with the farmers, sowed seeds at the farmlands of T. Siva Reddy and M. Bose Reddy in which leaders of CPM, CPI and other organisations participated.
