PPP to raise funds for Visakhapatnam as Smart City

Visakhapatnam: GVMC commissioner Pravin Kumar said that there is scarcity of finances where funds for Smart City plans implementation have to be mobilised through grant, PPP model, some funds from 14th Finance Commission, by issuing bonds by GVMC and collecting user charges from the public.
Speaking at the foundation day celebrations of Indian Institute of Public Administration, local branch here on Friday, he stressed more on the citizen participation in achieving the smart city status for the city. He explained that the Centre had identified 100 smart cities out of 500 cities having one lakh population. He said in the beginning 20 smart cities are identified and Vizag is one of them.
